Carolina Herrera
One of America's greatest designers, Carolina Herrera came up with beautiful dresses in hues of red, white, and black with some hints of powder blue and peony. The usual shift dresses were transformed with belts peeking from the pleats. The whole collection speaks of Herrera's precision with design, transforming mod pieces to modern wear.

The shows at the UPS tent are always interesting since UPS chooses a great group of diversity among today's upcoming designers. For Spring-Summer 2007, Sari Gueron came up with sheer maxi dresses and in off-whites and muted greys and pastels. Cinched waists from last season came off and details have mainly focused on the necklines and the hems.

Shift dresses have been very popular in the 1960s. These were worn by Fashion Icons Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, and Twiggy. Over the years, the shape of the shift dress shapeshifted into various types of silhouettes depending on the trend of the season.

After posting the "jean" blog two days ago, I felt it was best to email this situation to the Marks & Spencer head office. Here's a reply from their Retail Customer Service Department:

This store is a franchise store and therefore we do not control the signage.
However, I have checked and it is grammatically correct.

Is it really correct to say, "That's a really nice jean!" "I need new jean." So I replied:

Dear Mr. So-and-so,

Thank you for your immediate reply. Does this mean it is correct for anyone to say, " I just bought a denim jean at Marks and Spencer? Or "I like your jean. Where did you buy it?" If it is, I would post your reply at my blog to inform the public that it is correct.

Well, if it is grammatically correct, that would be a truly interesting addition to the fashion vocabulary. Have a great weekend!!!

Last night, this sign at the Marks and Spencer store caught my eye. I didn't get to photograph the other sign for the men's "jean" as well. So how would they plan to sell their pants in this store? Per leg? What do you think?
